Gateway Synergy is looking for highly experienced Security Analyst contractor.

The security infrastructure analyst will have experience in performing current state analysis, requirements analysis definition and implementation of cyber security monitoring and reporting services, specifically with regards to secure gateway operations, monitoring and related Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) services.

Skills and experience in IBM QRadar, network gateways and the Mitre Att&ck and Mitre D3fend frameworks are preferred. Provide security analysis of the current state, report options and recommendations, and specify an uplift and enhancement program for the reporting of cyber metrics to Customers of the Services Australia Shared Services Gateway.

Primary Technologies: QRadar, Secure Internet Gateways, Network security engineering and operations.

The Role:
The Security Analyst’s Key Tasks/Duties may include some or all of the following:

  • Elicit, analyse and manage security requirements to meet demand.
  • Manage the prioritisation and escalation of security issues.
  • Communicate the end-to-end implications of security configuration changes.
  • Analyse the cyber security impacts of requests for change management.
  • Provide detailed specialist technical infrastructure security advice, including strategic advice to the senior executive where appropriate.
  • Proactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cyber security strategies, policy and procedures and change initiatives.
  • Undertake research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations on products and suitability for the agency.
  • Prepare, review and maintain documentation which may include design documentation, implementation plans, test plans.
  • Support procedures, encourage innovation, continuous improvement and manage and support change.


The Candidate:
Mandatory criteria

  • Demonstrated experience and success with analysing gateway and network security monitoring solutions in large complex environments, including specialist knowledge of SIEM configuration, SOC operations and reporting.

Weighted Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in the configuration and deployment of IBM QRadar, use case development and associated reporting capabilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry Cyber Security frameworks, best practices and standards including the Mitre Att&ck and D3fend frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with security requirements and solutions with regard to Federal Government information security policy (i.e. Information Security Manual, Protective Security Policy Framework) and the ACSCs Cyber Security principles and guidelines

The Position
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Remedial Engineer to join our client’s team in Sydney. As the Senior Remedial Engineer you will take primary responsibility for the remedial engagements of the client company, looking at ways to expand the business offering and engagement in this sector. You will apply and develop your knowledge and experience to provide our clients with advice, design creation and reports on a range of waterproofing related design, compliance, material and construction scenarios. Communicating with designers, developers, builders, asset owners and subcontractors to provide a combination of on-site and off-site services you will ensure that waterproofing works are designed and executed in compliance with NCC, Australian Standards and best practice requirements.

The Role
The role includes (but not limited to):

  • Apply knowledge and expertise to diagnose deterioration and support
    development of scopes for appropriate remedial action
  • Review and prepare design documentation on nominated projects
  • Oversee the develop reports for design and material selection compliance.
  • Attend and contribute to workshop meetings for construction projects during both design and construction phases
  • Preparation of performance solutions and other compliance documentation
  • Provide verbal and written advice on waterproofing compliance with Australian Standards, National Construction Code and best practice guides.
  • Oversight and development of staff in the remedial department
  • Allocate time to networking and professional development, follow-up clients and industry professionals
  • Involvement in critical business strategy and decision making that will define the future of the company


The Candidate

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Building Design, Engineering or similar.
  • Registered Design Practitioner is preferred (architectural, structural, facade)
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant design experience
  • Knowledge of buildings codes (NCC/BCA), Australian Standards, and relevant best practice guides
  • Experience in a senior architectural is highly desirable.
  • Experience with construction waterproofing and interfacing building elements
  • Construction OHS Certificate (White Card), or commitment to attain one
  • Proven ability in managing projects, dealing with clients, consultants, team members and other relevant stakeholders

  • Ensure all relevant documentation and correspondence is in place so that disputes, claims or liabilities under the contract are avoided.
  • Carry out or manage the administration tasks in a timely and coordinated fashion to ensure internal office administration timelines are met and all project documentation is completed in accordance with good practice and contractual timeframes.
  • Provide concise and accurate cost and project reporting to Operations Managers on a monthly basis that shows payments are received and made on time and financial reporting is on time, accurate and show good financial management practices.
  • Initiate and maintain Safety in Design discipline throughout the project delivery.
  • Adopt good operational risk management practices for the project, identifying, assessing and recording key
    risks using risk and compliance framework.
  • Demonstrate sound operational knowledge of legislative, regulatory and standards requirements including
    Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC), Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC), Workplace Health & Safety, Complaint Handling and Dispute Resolution and their implementation on projects.
  • Ensure the highest level of accuracy and professionalism is maintained in all areas of client and service provision. This includes ensuring the timeframes for processing of relevant documentation are actioned in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Participates in preparation of submissions, EOI and other documents for management style contract proposals as and when requested.
  • Participate in preparation of tenders as and when requested.
  • Manage area of responsibility (specific projects as allocated) so that it is effective, efficient and contributes to the values, growth and profitability of the company in all regions.

  • Excellent skills in all aspects of project management including pre- and post- contract negotiations, client liaison, delivery, financial management, WHS and people management.
  • Significant on-site project management experience.
