  • Lead the coordination and development of briefing products, policy advice and talking points for Taskforce Executive, to inform and influence government deliberations and outcomes.
  • Use knowledge of Government policy agenda to influence trade simplification objectives and monitor strategic developments across Government.
  • Develop, sustain and leverage productive relationships with Government agencies, industry organisations and business.
  • Develop engagement plans, organise meetings and provide high-quality secretariat support for STS to connect with industry and Government stakeholders.
  • Support planning and reporting through preparation of status updates and identification of any compliance and risk issues that may affect the long-term goals of the Taskforce.

The candidate requirements
Essential criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working as a Policy and Engagement Specialist, ideally within government.
  • Proven ability to deliver requirements and aligns with organisational constraints of multiple agencies/entities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between business and technical terminology.

Desirable criteria:

  • An existing network of federal government agency contacts in the area of digital economy, transformation and data policy
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with an understanding of government processes and experience representing the government in inter-agency and external engagements
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to craft high quality briefs, talking points and meeting notes with little direction
  • Flexible, adaptable and resilient to working in a highly contested environment and able to re-prioritise work at a moment’s notice

The department is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to assist with the following deliverables:

  • Develop and maintain of SIEM alerts and dashboards to aid with threat detection.
  • Work with Security Analysts to understand, develop and maintain automatic detection and response capabilities using available SOAR capabilities.
  • Utilise available threat intelligence to enrich alerts.
  • Develop and maintain team SOPs and playbooks for SIEM management and configuration, including, alert exclusions and alert tuning.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the SecOps environment where needed.

The candidate requirements
Essential criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience managing/maintaining logging and SIEM technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cyber security principles and processes in a defensive context
  • Demonstrated ability to develop alerting rules and dashboards to assist with threat detection and incident response.
  • Ability to learn and understand how the operating environment functions normally and effectively identify anomalies when they occur
  • Demonstrated experience with development practices and DevOps pipelines.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience with Azure Sentinel, Kusto Query Language (KQL) and Azure logging mechanisms
  • Experience with Microsoft’s suite of security tools, including Azure Security Centre, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft ‘Defender for’ tools (Endpoint, Identity, etc.)
  • Experience managing a Windows environment, including patching, Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Experience utilising threat intelligence services and tools such as MISP to enrich data and alerts that originate from SIEM and logging tools such as Syslog-ng.

The Role
Seeking for expressions of interest in multiple roles within the Maritime Electronic Warfare Combat Management subsystem team. Work on green fields evolutionary developments to incrementally modernise the Navy’s EW command and control capabilities to meet the demands of an ever-increasing complex maritime environment.  

The program involves systems design and development of custom hardware and software subsystems, which will be fully integrated into the ship’s critical systems.

  • Systems analysis to derive function, performance, and interface requirements to satisfy the system requirements.
  • Creation of verification statements, perform technical risk analysis, as well as planning, documenting, and executing verification and validation activities.
  • System design activities (including trade studies) to ensure that the system architecture is compatible with the baselined product and is consistent across all subsystems and that the system design will meet the system level performance requirements.
  • Support specialty engineering tasks including system safety engineering, security engineering, human factors, EMC/EMI.
  • Be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled professionals.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable Definition, Design, Development, Integration and Verification experience in one or more of the following fields: Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Communication, Software and/or RF Systems.
  • High level of computer literacy coupled with strong Microsoft Office application skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills essential.
  • Use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Demonstratable experience in Defence Systems Engineering processes and tools (e.g. DOORS).
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering, including the use of modelling tools is highly desirable
  • Experience in a Defence related industry is highly desirable.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Australian Government (Defence) Security Clearance up to NV-1. This can be sponsored, eligibility is a clear police check and Australian citizen.

The department is seeking an experienced Azure Automation Engineer to be responsible for managing support for the department’s Azure platform and DevOps projects, and is proficient in tools for Azure portal management, source control, continuous integration, Infrastructure as Code, containerisation and team management.

The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of cloud architecture and services and are responsible for providing expert advice with regards to Azure implementations. This role is a technical, services-orientated role that collaborates closely with architects, developers, and on-premises operations staff. This role is responsible for automating and supporting Azure testing, development, administration, and maintenance.

Automation and Integration Engineers are responsible for scripting/automating tasks wherever possible, continuous delivery, configuration management, and the deployment of modules, upgrades and hot fixes within production environments.

Routine maintenance is an ongoing task, therefore, engineers of this discipline are often the same technicians performing second or third level support on systems and applications. Their primary functions cross and merge the barriers that exist between traditional software development, testing and operations teams and keep existing networks in mind as they design, plan and test. This role has experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and automate manual processes for new systems and products.
  • Maintain existing integration and delivery pipelines, ensuring processes are standardised and reused.
  • Provide Infrastructure as Code (IaC) support to all development and production environments.
  • Maintain, configure and develop dynamic containerised environments in support of development and production. This ranges from greenfield serverless environments to full stack brownfield environments.
  • Reduce the time it takes to build, deploy, and configure software to all environments.
  • Joint owner of all development and release tooling, processes and architecture.
  • Assists in developing application monitoring solutions across cloud and on-prem solutions.
  • Work with development and operations teams to offer automation as a service across domains, products and services.
  • Document processes and work on handover materials for other IT staff.


The candidate requirements

Application architecture, application lifecycle management (ALM), Azure cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and FaaS), cloud disaster recovery, cloud storage, cloud systems management and operations, cloud migration, compliance (GDPR, Privacy Act, PSPF, ISM, etc.), data migration (cross platform / upgrade), containerisation, container orchestration, resiliency (clustering, etc.), scalability (up and out, high performance), database and server virtualization, DevOps, diagnostics and monitoring, modern application architecture, package management (npm, NuGet, OneGet, etc.), performance tuning, reporting services, desired state configuration, RESTful services, security architecture, security compliance, source code repository (git, TFS, svn, etc.), technology architecture, testing (TDD), unstructured data formats (e.g. JSON, YAML).

2. Technologies
