- Develop and conduct test and evaluation of software
- Identify areas for modification in existing software and take appropriate action to rectify any shortfalls
- Write and implement effective code, in accordance with technical direction and best practice
- Determine operational practicality of software and develop quality assurance procedures
- Deploy software tools, processes and metrics
- As required, undertake any other tasks as requested by the Technical team

- Lead the design, build, test and operation of security systems within a complex IT network
- Lead the security system authorisation process based on NIST 800-37 RMF
- Perform threat and risk assessments
- Develop and manage security control baselines
- Guide technical staff on implementation of security controls
- Conduct control compliance audits
- Plan and supervise vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Develop a plan for ongoing security actions and milestones
- Manage regular security testing and monitoring
- Ensure access to IT systems is limited to role and user needs
- Establish an incident response plan and supporting playbooks
- Manage, develop and implement IT security policies and documentation that meet ASD and Defence requirements
- Support, plan and conduct test and evaluation activities for deliverable systems and products.

The Role:
In line with best practice, develop the following:
- Security incident management plan (roles and responsibilities, communications plan)
- Incident management plan on a page
- Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs)
- Security incident templates
- Summary plan template
- Communication template
- Lessons learnt template
- Senior Executive response plan
- Senior Executive engagement and sponsorship model
- Maturity modelling pathways
- Training package may include:
- Presentation slides
- Departmental Security essential training (internal personnel training and awareness package)
- Other services as required to support the section
The Candidate:
Essential criteria
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in security incident management
- Comprehensive knowledge of protective (excluding cyber) security incident management.
- Has an active Baseline Security Clearance
Desirable criteria:
- Working knowledge of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Australian New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee (ANZCTC) governance and policies.
- Certification and/or membership to relevant professional organisations including certification in any of the following: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Associate Protection Professional (APP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).

- 12 months initial contract with 1×12 months extension
