The Position
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Sales Engineer to join our client’s team in Browns Plains. The Sales Engineer is fully responsible for effectively developing new and existing business and to manage and execute the delivery of sales, for the Marine Fenders Division, whilst ensuring the products meet market demands and customer requirements which is in compliance with the strategic direction of the Company.
The Role
The role includes (but not limited to):
- Compile, review and submit of quotes and tender proposals in accordance with company guidelines and sound commercial practice
- Negotiate and review contracts in accordance company guidelines
- Report sales and pipeline prospects and bid progress
- Liaise with the Sales and Marketing Staff to understand customer requirements, promote Marine and Infrastructure products, and provide sales support
- Continuous development of customer relationships relevant to the Marine Fenders business
- Create personal travel plans in line with current and future sales opportunities, customer relationships and strategic goals
- Attend industry functions and trade shows to network and maintain business industry presence
- Develop existing accounts and prospective accounts to ensure the conversion of profitable business opportunities
- Develop high level concept designs and ‘engineered solutions’ to meet the customer and industry specific needs
- Developing and maintaining accurate CRM files of leads, opportunities, and customers
- Manufacturing processes and product knowledge
- Implementation of Sales Excellence processes and maintenance of Sales Excellence data input
- Remain informed of industry trends and news
- Represent the company in a professional manner
- Seek continual self improvement
The Candidate
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Graduate degree in an Engineering discipline, Mechanical, Structural, Civil preferred but not strictly necessary
- 3-10 years’ experience in project engineering or consultative sales roles is most suited to the responsibilities of the role
- Strong persuasion, selling and negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate with staff at all organizational levels
- Strong lateral thinking, problem solving and advanced analytical thinking skills
- Strong project management principles
- Moderate level of autonomy
- Moderate to strong understanding of engineering principles
- Confident negotiating skills
- Understanding of ISO 9001 principles
- Moderate to strong understanding of steel manufacturing (ideally)
